LIU JIPING Liu Jiping is a scientist in energetic materials and flame retardant materials. He is currently a full professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, China. He was born in Yunyang, Sichuan Province of China in June,1951. He joined the army in April, 1968. From 1968 to 1979, he was a firearms repairman and assistant engineer at ordnance station in Duyun Military Subarea in Guizhou. He received the Bachelors degree in chemistry from Guizhou Normal University (Guiyang Techers college) in 1982. While he was in Cadre Culture School in Guizhou Military Command from 1982 to 1985, he worked as Lab. assistant, teacher and staff officer. And from 1985 to 1995, he worked as a project group head, engineer, senior engineer and salaryadvanced senior engineer successively at Research Section 1, Air Force Research Institute of Aerial Ammunition. He has enjoyed the government special allowance form the State Council since 1992 and was granted “outstanding young scientific expert” from the Ministry of Personnel, in 1992. In the same year, he studied for doctors degree at National University of Defense Technology. He was brought in the School of Chemical and Materials, Beijing Institute of Technology(BIT) in 1995, and from then on he has been researcher, professor, administrative vice director and vice director of National Laboratory of Flame Retardant Materials, etc. He was awarded as transcentury talent by Ministry of Education in 1996. He has worked in various fields of materials science and technology in application as well as in basic research, and has made many great achievements in scientific research, which have created good political, martial and social benefits. His research and achievements were focused on the fields of energetic materials, flame retardant materials, new type energy sources materials and special materials, etc. He has been awarded the second national prizes two times for invention, two first provincial prizes for science and technology progress, four provincial prizes for great contribution and five other prizes for science and technology as the first completed person. He has got seven inventive patents and has authored and coauthored over 260 papers, one collection of papers and five books. He has trained a lot of research persons with abilities in energetic materials, flame retardant materials and nanomaterials，and promoted our national materials research greatly. He is a parttime professor and doctoral tutor at Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics.
