WEI KEMEI

Wei Kemei, a specialist in the filed of engineering technology for catalyst, was born in Japan and returned to China in 1945. Professor, and former president of Fuzhou University.  Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering since 1997.
Graduated from the Department of Chemistry, Fuzhou University in 1965. Did research work at the Japanese Institution of Chemical Technology as a visiting scholar from 1987 to 1988. Successfully developed two series seven types of chemical fertilizer catalysts and put them on the markets, which made great economic and social benefits. National prizes were awarded for five works of them. In 1983, the third prize of the National Invention Award for the invention of A1103 Ammonia Synthesis Catalyst. In 1985, the third prize of the Chinese National Invention Award for the invention of A201 Ammonia Synthesis Catalyst. In 1993, the second prize of the Chinese National Award for Advancement in Science and Technology for the invention of B116 Low Chromium Carbon Monoxide High Temperature Shift Reaction Catalyst. In 1996, the third prize of the Chinese National Award for Advancement in Science and Technology for the invention of A202 Ammonia Synthesis Catalyst. In 2000, the second prize of the National Invention Award for the invention of B121 Chromiumfree Carbon Monoxide High Temperature Shift Reaction Catalyst. According to the development requisition of the chemical fertilizer industrial technology, China invested ¥53560000  to construct the National Engineering Research Center of Chemical Fertilizer Catalyst. He was appointed director of the Center. Now, except the ongoing development of novel chemical fertilizer catalyst, Prof. Wei also devotes to the development of environmental catalyst, of which FD automobile exhaust catalytic converter matched with different type cars from seven domestic automobile manufactures, can meet the emissions regulation of EUROPE-Ⅲ.
Prof. Wei has published more than 100 papers and was authorized 17 patents. The main honors awarded for his outstanding contributions include the medal of National Outstanding Specialty Technician in 1999, National Excellent Worker Award in 2000, Ten Best Overseas Chinese Award in 2004, the delegate of the 9th and 10th National Peoples Congress.
