Abstract

Li Youping, an electronics expert and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, was born in a primary teacher's family in Quanzhou of Fujian province at May of 1935. After graduating from Jimei middle school founded by Mr. Chen jiageng, he was enrolled in radio major of Nanjing Southeast University. From 1957 to 1959, he did advanced studies on multichannel communication and telemetry in radio department of Tsinghua University, then worked as assistant and lecturer at University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Long period of dedicating research career unknown to the public started in October of 1964, a special time China exploding its first atomic bomber on tower, when he, as a 29 years old of young expert brought up under new china's own education system, was transferred to CAEP(China Academy of Engineering Phsics) to prepare for air drop experiment.
Owing to the achievements made in resolving many technical problems arising from electronic system of nuclear weapon, he has received many awards, among which are the first award of national science and technology progress, the second award of national invention, national science assembly award, national defense major science and technology award from first to third level etc.
During two terms of office as director of science and technology committee of CAEP in 1990s, he has organized scientists in group to research on development strategy and technical approach around nuclear test ban, giving influential suggestions.
Recently, he gradually converts his attention to research on civil oriented basic network structure, aiming to take advantage of high speed broadcast and large amounts of memory to deal with band bottle-neck and high rate problems now facing WWW, so as to give ordinary persons opportunities to share information and knowledge with each other.
