HUANG SHUHUAI

Huang Shuhuai, an expert in mechanical engineering and an honorary doctor of Toyo University in Japan, was born in Changsha, Hunan Province in Feb. 1930.He graduated from Mechanical Science & Technology Institute of Wuhan University in 1952.Since 1978,he was appointed as professor and advisor of doctor in Huazhong Institute of Technology and Huazhong University of Science & Technology.From 1984 to 1993, he was the president of Huazhong Institute of Technology and Huazhong University of Science & Technology.From 1984 to 2003,he was member and leader of Evaluation Group for Material Discipline of the State Council Degree Committee. Since 1983, he acted as vicechairman of Hubei Science & Technology Association,national committee member of China Science & Technology Association,standing director of China Mechanical Engineering Society,president of Forging Society of China Mechanical Engineering Society,general board of Forging Teaching Supervisory Committee of National institution of higher education.
Prof. Huang has been long engaged in the research fields of mechanism,electricity, fluid, material and so on, achieving great success in reforming the traditional mechanical equipments with information technology. In order to reduce great allowance for finish of forging parts built by water press and improve formidable working condition, a fundamental research directed against the condition of high pressure, large flow and frequent reversing was conducted to control the great inertia motion parts rapidly, stably and accurately. Thus a hydraulic machine set controlled by computer was successfully developed in cooperation with enterprises. Therefore the mechanization and automatization for the whole process from discharge of materials in the furnace to finished forging products was implemented, which altered the laggard methods of production and working condition of hydraulic press for free forging thoroughly. This achievement also improved the labor productivity by a large margin, saved the raw material and reduced the subsequent allowance for finish. Since the hardware of the mechanical manufacturing field was weak in our country, its difficult to form an industry if we only adopted the professional system of foreign countries. Accordingly, the technological route of “Based on Personal Computer, Break through Software” was first put forward by Prof. Huang in order to develop the numerical control industry in our country. Subsequently, Huazhong I System was successfully developed and industrialized and Huazhong NC has become an important industrialized NC base in the domestic world. Moreover, Prof. Huang was also a chief initiator of RP technology in our country. The LOM,SLS, SLA, RE and RT apparatus researched and developed under his charge have been commercialized, which contribute a lot to the manufacturing industry of our nation and improve its competitive power all over the world. What he has engaged in has won a lot of awards, including three items of Second National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, one third prize of National Invention, one first prize at provincial and ministerial levels, four items of Second prize at provincial and ministerial levels, 6 patents for invention, 18 items of Practical Newtype Patents, one Excellent prize of Chinas patent.
