AWARDEE OF TECHNOLOGICAL SCIENCES PRIZE
GAO ZIMING
Mr Gao Ziming is president & professor of Tianjin Institute of Power Sources, born in Jingxian County, Hebei Province in August 1954, graduated from Department of Applied Chemistry, Harbin University of Technology in 1982 with Bachelor Degree, majored in Electrochemical Engineering; appointed to Tianjin Institute of Power Sources (abbr. as TIPS below) to do research work, since graduation; step by step, undertook research group leader, department head, vice president, and the president of TIPS. Additionally, undertake director of Engineering Research Center of Advanced Power Sources and National Key Laboratory of Physical & Chemical Power Sources.
During a long period of China “Seven Five”,“Eight Five”and “Nine Five”Plans, engaged in and organized 18 items of R & D projects on power sources which used in major national engineering projects. Relative ministry and institution approved all of those achievements.Among those, 1 project received the Second State Prize of Science & Technology Progress Award; 3 projects received Ministry Prizes of Science & Technology Progress Award, 1 project awarded as one of the Top 10 Science & Technology Achievements and 1 project awarded as Excellent Quality Product.
During “Ten Five”Period, as the Chief Command in charge of developing the solar cell power system used in “Shenzhou” Manned Space Ships, the power supply system used in the human metabolism simulation devices for Manned Space Ship Project, the power system of “No.20 ChinaStar”Communication Satellite and the power system of “Beidou” Navigation Communication Satellite, etc. In the manned Space Project, the institute received the Super Grade Prize of Science & Technology Progress Award by the State Council.The power system of Beidou Navigation Communication Satellite received the first prize of National Defense Science & Technology Progress Award, together with whole satellite project.
Due to personal efforts & contributions, awarded as “Excellent Youth Science & Technology Researcher”& “Expert with Great Contribution”by China Ministry of Electronics Industry and received the third grade prize of “Guanghua Science & Technology Foundation award” in 1995. Whats more, awarded as “Labor Exemplarof National Industry and Enterprises” in 2004.
