DING HENGGAO

Abstract

Born in Nanjing, Jiangsu province on 3 Feb. 1931 . Expert in inertial technology and precision mechanics. Graduated from Nanjing University in 1952, and acquired a doctor's degree in St. Petersburg Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics Instrument in 1961. Since then, he has been engaged in the research of inertial instrument and system technology applied in guiding various vehicles for a long period, and has obtained multiple rewards of science and technology conferred by the country for his significant effort . From 1985 to 1996, He acted as the Minister of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry For National Defense, PRC. In 1994 He was selected as the Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, which is China's topmost academic and advisory institution on Engineering and technology. Now he is the President of the Chinese Society of Inertial Technology concurrently the professor of Tsinghua University, still active in the guiding and research work at MEMS fields in China as well as the strategic study of S & T development of national defence.
