WANG ZHERONG

Abstract

Mr. Wang Zherong, was born in October 1935 in Gaoyang County, Hebei Province. In 1956, Mr.Wang was enrolled in Harbin Military Engineering Colloge and graduated in 1962. Then  he worked as an  assistant research fellow in the Armoured Force Science and Technology Institute for 7 years. From 1969 to 1984, he was successively the team leader, engineer and vice director of the integration research department. From 1985 to 1996, he became chief engineer, senior engineer and professor senior engineer in the China North Vehicle Research Institute. From 1986 up to now, he has been the deputy designer in chief in an state key project and the chief designer of the improved version of the project. In 2001, he was elected the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Mr. Wang is an expert in special vehicles engineering. For the past 40 years, he has undertaken development work of many testing vehicles and state key projects. His main achievements are as follows:
In 1963, Mr. Wang involved in the entire process of developing  the first-generation special medium-sized vehicle. Under the restraint of the vehicle integration, he finished the solution selecting and system matching, and solved the problems of interfacing between components and of how to rationalize the overall layout.
From 1986 up to now, Mr. Wang was appointed the deputy designer in chief and the team leader of one state key project. He has undertaken the whole system technical work, and was one of the key persons who were in charge of decision making for whole system and whole process and were in charge of organizing and implementing of the project. The vehicle in this project is our country's self-developed product, and its comprehensive performance has reached the international advanced level. This project has high level starting point and is extremely difficult to fulfill. Under the condition that the technology of our country was behind the developed country, he, together with the chief engineer, applied high comprehensive, system- optimizing and operational research solution in order to select program and make integration design. This made the newest type of special heavy vehicle be compact and have low weight and high performance. The comprehensive performances of this vehicle have reached the world advanced level, and it means that the research of special heavy vehicles in China has progressed from the stage of imitation and modification to the new phase of self-development. This project has greatly improved the research capability and research level in China.
