ZHU YOUYONG

Abstract

Zhu  Youyong, plant pathologist, who was born on November 16, 1955 in Gejiu of Yunnan, and graduated from Plant Protection Department of Yunnan Agricultural University and gained Bachelor of Agriculture in 1982. From 1982 to 1984, he worked  in Plant Protection Deparment of Yunnan Agricultural University as an assistant; And graduated from Plant pathology in Yunnan Agricultural University and got Master of Agriculture in 1987; From 1987 to 1994, lecturer in Plant Protection Deparment of Yunnan Agricultural University; From 1994 to 1996, studied abroad in Sydney University in Australia; During the years of 1996 and 2000, he assumed the office of vice-director, professor and director of the Phytopathology Laboratory of Yunnan Province, and gained Doctor's Degree in China Agricultural University; From 2000 to now, professor in Yunnan Agricultural University and the director of College of Plant Protection.
Professor Zhu has researched on the theory and practice of agricultural biodiversity for plant diseases controlling for long time. And collaborated with IRRI, Oregan University, Wolverhampton University and Wageningen University, some exploration and innovation in the aspects of rice genetic diversity controlling rice blast, crops diversity controlling wheat and broadbean diseases, maize and potato diseases,  and of microorganisms diversity controlling soil-brone diseases had been researched. He established the theories and technology of rice genetic diversity controlling rice blast and species diversity controlling diseases. In the   research work in the aspect of agricultural biodiversity for plant disease controlling, he recieved a international scientific award of CGIRA, a science and technology award of Chinese University, five Provincial and Ministry science and technology  awards; and the national agricultural science and technology advanced worker and the national paradigmatic teacher.
