Abstract

Professor Wang Chengwei, a expert of computer science and a member of  Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE), was born in July 1933 in Shanghai and graduated from the Department of Physics at the Beijing Normal University in  1956.
Beginning from 1957,Professor Wang worked in the China's Ministry of Space and COSTIND (Commission of Science, technology and Industry for National Defense), at different times, as engineer and research fellow, engaged in the field of Analog Computer, Modeling and Simulation, Digital Computer and Artificial Intelligence Applications. He participated in the research and development of some analog Computer systems, simulation modeling, digital computer systems, various software packages and artificial intelligence    applications.
Professor Wang has published over 100 scientific papers, his book ”Object -    oriented Analysis, Design and Applications” was published in 1992,and “Virtual    Reality - Theory, Design and Applications” was published in 1996.
He was elected a member of Information Area of 863 National High-Tec  Program, in 1987, a chair of experts group of Intelligent Computing System of  863 National High-Tec Program, in 1988, a standing member of S863 (Secondary 863 National High-Tec Program) steering committee, in 1998.
Professor Wang has won second grade award of National Prize of Progress in Science    and Technology for two times, and some other ministry-level prizes.  Professor Wang    was elected member of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in 1996,and vice    president of Chinese Computer Federation in 1997.
His recent field of concentration includes Object-oriented and Agent-oriented    Methodology and Applications, Virtual Reality Technology, and Software Engineering.
He is working as invited Research Fellow of Institute of Computing Technology and invited Professor of 5 universities in China, such as Beijing University and Tsinghua University, etc.
