QIAN SHAOJUN

Abstract

Prof. Qian Shaojun, an expart of nuclear science, was born in Pinhu, Zhejiang Province in October, 1934. He graduated from Department of Technical Physics, Peking University in 1956. He successively worked as an assistant in Department of Technical Physics, Peking University, a research fellow in High Enengy Laboratory, Joint Institute of Nuclear Research, Dubna, USSR and then in Department of High Energy physics of China Institute of Atomic Eneagy until 1965. Since 1966, he worked as a deputy director, and then director of Radiochemical Division in China Nuclear Test Base, he had engaged in the experimental research in the field of radiochemical diagnostic of nuclear test explosions for a long time, and has made important contribution to the development of technology and methology in this field. He was also engaged in the R&D of the underground unclear test engineering when he held the leading post of China Nuelear Test Base since 1983. He was honored with two national science and technology progress prizes and two national invention prizes. He was entiled as reasasch professor in 1987, and was elected as the member of China Academy of Engineering in 1995. He is now a standing member of S&T Committe of Commission of Science, Technology and Industuy for Natioinal Defence (COSTIND). He is also a concurrent professor of Peking University and the University of Science & Technology for National Defense.
