LU SHIBI

Abstract

Prof. Lu Shibi, an orthopedic specialist, was born in Beijing 1930. He graduated from Beijing Union Medical Collage (8 years curriculum) in 1956. He is now professor of orthopedy of general Hospital of Chinese Peoples Liberation Army, and director of orthopedic institute of PLA. He is a member of International Society of Surgery. And chairman of Artificial Joint Division of Chinese Society of Orthopaedies, He is elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1996.
Prof. Lu has got experience form the orthopedic practice for more than 40 years. He has been working in the wide field of orthopaedic.
He designed and developed the cemented and cementless endoprosthesis in China. To be the first group to research and develop the bone cement which had been widely used in China. He has made a series of achievement in the research of replacement of endo-prosthesis. Particularly, the cementless pearl surface prosthesis of total hip replacement has got excellent results in experiment and clinic used.
He performed free nerve graft to repair the war injuries of nerve, the results is satisfying.He constantly bring forth in research of repair of peripheral nerve, as compression injuries of nerve, neurotropism of regenerated nerve etc.
He created the treatment of correction of scoliosis with shape memory alloy, open up research work of biomechanics in field of spine and shape memory alloy, improved the treatment of malignant tumor used Hyperthermia method to treat the bone tumor with microwave.
He performed the experiment of bone guide regeneration. The results of this study is significant in the field of repairment of bone fracture.
Prof. Lu has published 169 articles. He has been awarded twice the first prize for the Progress of National Science and Technology.
