Abstract

Prof. Wang Tao, female, was born in 1936 in Jiaoxian County, Shandong Province. After the graduation from the Department of Forestry of Beijing Institute of Forestry in 1959, she was assigned to work in Chinese Academy of Forestry. And since then on, she has been working there. Professor Wang is an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, doctoral tutor, director of Social Forestry Research Center, and director of ABT R&D Center-one of the key national spread plan of scientific and technological achievements. She is honorary president of the Research Institute of Forestry Ecological Environment, and a member of the Commission of Environment and Resources of National Peoples Congress.
Professor Wang Tao has engaged in the research and the achievement transformation of plant growth regulator, stereoscopic and factorized seedling nursery and forest cultivation for a long time and made great achievements. She invented stereoscopic plant cultivation device and ABT Rooting Powder Series, a compound plant growth regulator. During the transformation of her scientific invention of ABT into productive forces, Professor Wang broke through the old tradition of the separation of research, spreading and market. Instead, on the basis of self-reliance, she has established the sound cycling operative system of research, development, demonstration, spread, production, market, talented personnel training, academic exchange and international cooperation, which is in accordance with the market economy, rural development and social advancement of China. And also the social service system of research and spread, which is cohesive, large scaled, multi-leveled and open. She has made outstanding achievements in forest cultivation, and the research, development and spread of plant growth regulator.
The ABT Rooting Powder Series and the ABT achievement transformation project under the leadership of Professor Wang won one national special class prize and one national second class prize of Scientific and Technological Advancement and one national third class prize for invention. They were also awarded one special class and one first class prizes for Scientific and Technological Advancement by the Ministry of Forestry, and 12 prizes by international organizations. Professor Wang has published and edited 19 technological works.
