Li Dianrong Li Dianrong was born in Hua county of Shaanxi Province in October,1938, graduated from soil profession of northwest biology soil college of chinese academy of sciences. Li Dianrong has been engaged in rapeseed breeding for over thirty years, he bred sixteen rapeseed varieties, and got four patents of invention and nine awards of scientific research achievement. The expanded area of these varieties got to 14.93million hm2, and increasing yield 5.40 billion kg and newly increasing output 14.09 billion RMB yuan. Li Dianrong makes a pioneering contribution in establishing scientific system of hybrid rapeseed varieties selecting, parents reproduction, production of hybrids, identification of hybrids purity, study and popularizing of cultivation technique as well as industrialization. 1. The early eighties, Li Dianrong bred the first hybrid rapeseed variety in the world,Qinyou No.2. In 1986, a appraisal meeting that ministry of agriculture presided for Qinyou No.2 held in Xian, the experts group, which professor Liu Houli of Huazhong Agriculture University and Li Jingxiong academician of Chinese Academy of Agriculture Science were as chairmen, thought that the triline of male sterile and its hybridQinyou No.2, their good characters and stability and restorability as well as the effect of increasing in yield were unprecedented, and it was a breakthrough achievement with advanced level at home and abroad. Qinyou No.2 increased 30% or so than conventional varieties in yield, released 12 provinces and regions in China, it promoted the change of chinese rapeseed yield from middleyield to highyield, transition from conventional rapeseed varieties to hybirds. 2. Qinyou No.7, a hybrid rapeseed variety with good quality （doublelow）, has the widest adaptation regions and biggest released area during 2005-2008 in China. In 1997,the research team, which was led by pro.Li Dianrong, bred Qinyou No.7 through the technology route of excellent quality and heterosis as well as the method of ultiparent and polygene convergent cross. Qinyou No.7 was recommended as a leading variety of rapeseed by ministry of agriculture for many years. In 2006, all experts in the appraisal meeting thought Qinyou No.7 was the second great breakthrough achievement after Qinyou No.2 in the course of good quality rapeseed breeding. Its yielding ability and yield stability and adaptability standed in the leading domestic level. 3. The new rapeseed lines with the highest oil content were bred in the world. By ploygenes pyramiding breeding, ecological breeding,yellowseeded breeding, DH breeding and heterosis breeding with high oil content ect., through 15 year unremitting endeavor, Pro.Li Dianrong and his colleagues raised oil content of rapeseed germplasm from 40% to 60% or so, and oil content of hybrids over 50%. In the appraising meeting of 2009, the committee composed by 15 famous rapeseed experts，which Fu Tingdong and Guan Chunyun academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering were as the chairmen, thought that the oil content of these germplasms,which reached to 60% or so, led international level, and application prospects of the achievement would be very broad, it’s social and economic benefit was also very significant. 4. Pro.Li found yellowseeded dominance gene in B.napus,and bred the first yellowseeded hybrid rapeseed variety Huangza No.1 at home and abroad,thereafter Huangza No.2. Additionally,he selected CMS Shaan3A and its hybrids Zayou No.59, and gained Golden Award of Chinese Patent in 1999.
